This roof terrace garden was a tiny space with very little light and so efficient design was highly important. The year round foliage of the bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra) gives permanent screening and interest to the garden, and the planters were individually constructed to fit the not quite square space. Hostas rise above the white pebbles giving a seasonal display of colour and above an evergreen clematis climbs up stainless steel supports. The main focus of the garden is a slate water feature, made from a single piece of stone and adding visually as well giving the constant sound of running water. There is space left for outdoor dining, so important when making the most of a garden space.
